5k Walk/Run

Muscogee (Creek) Nation Complex

Everyone looking for a way to start living healthier can begin with the 2013 Festival 5k Walk/Run which will take place on Saturday, June 22 at Highway 75 and Loop 56 at the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Complex.  Trophies will be awarded to Overall Male and Female.  Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each group.  Age groups competing in the event begin with 12 and under and progress to 70 and over.  This is an excellent opportunity to get the entire family active.

Claude Cox Omniplex Main Stage

The Muscogee (Creek) nation Festival Concerts are one of the most anticipated events of the year and this year’s entertainment is sure to be a crowd pleaser.  Entertainers from many different backgrounds and styles, including local and national acts, will grace the big stage over the course of two days providing electrifying performances for those in attendance.  All concerts will be performed on the main stage at the Claude Cox Omniplex Friday and Saturday.  Headlining acts will take the stage at 9:00 p.m. both nights.

Youth 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament

Okmulgee High School Brock Gymnasium

The Youth 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament is scheduled for 8:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22.  Register your team to vie for the title championship or support your favorite team by cheering from the stands.

Horseshoe Tournament

Claude Cox Omniplex

This year’s tournament will be held on Saturday, June 22 starting at 8 a.m.  There will be a singles event and a doubles event.  Players need to bring their own shoes.  No modified horseshoes allowed.  Partners will be drawn for the doubles competition.  The tournament will be double elimination with 21 throws per game.

Volley Ball Tournament

Claude Cox Omniplex

The annual athletically challenging co-ed volley ball tournament begins at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 22 at the Claude Cox Omniplex.  Registration is open until June 17.  The tournament is pool play.  Teams are required to have an 8-person roster.  Games are played rally point to 21 for the first two matches and rally point to 15 if there is a third match.  Winning team must win by two, cap at 25.

Child Safety Seat Check

June 22

Parking Lot West of the Mound Building, MCN Complex

Have the condition of your child safety seat checked in the parking lot along Loop 56 at the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Complex.  Creek Nation Health will provide this service Saturday, June 25 beginning at 9 a.m. and lasting until Noon.

Mvskoke Nation Festival Art Market

June 22 9am – 4pm

Creek Council House – 106 W. 6th Street, Okmulgee

The MCN Museum & Cultural Center will host the 2013 Mvskoke Nation Festival Art Market. The Art Market will take place on the lawn of the Creek Council House from 9am to 4pm.  We will have 30 Mvskoke artists demonstrating their craft for the duration of the market to provide insight to their art and creative process.  The Mvskoke artists will be showcasing their art in formats of paint, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, photography and much more.

Parade

Main Street (6th Street) Historic Downtown Okmulgee

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Festival Parade will take place on Main Street (6th Street) in Downtown Okmulgee and proceed on a route passing directly in front of the Creek Council House Museum beginning at 10 a.m.  Enjoy a procession that promises a wide array of floats depicting Muscogee (Creek) culture both modern and traditional along with area high school marching bands featuring the Pride of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.

Muscogee Hymn Singing/Gospel Singing

Lawn South of the Mound Building, MCN Complex

The annual Muscogee Hymn Singing will be held in conjunction with the Gospel Singing.  The singing will be held 2 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. This event is a great opportunity to hear the traditional Christian hymns of the Muscogee people and witness one of the dearest facets of the Muscogee culture.  This year’s event promises some great southern gospel and contemporary singing that will be entertaining as well as inspirational.  Experience great fellowship and uplifting music in the same setting.
